HUMAN MOVEMENT SPECIALIST

 

Name: Trisha Redelinghuys

Occupation: BSc Health Movement Specialist

Degree: BSc Human Movement Science and

Physiology (NWU Potchefstroom)

 

Who and what am I:

  • An advanced fitness professional who truly understands the functional anatomy and biomechanics behind every day and sport movement.
  • Completely understands the joint biomechanics, connective tissue and muscles required with movement and has solid understanding of biomechanical analysis of prime movements.
  • Understands how to access, correct and apply this knowledge with research, to design effective programs based on the principles of periodization training.
  • Understands the weak links in the body and common movement dysfunctions affecting the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and special populations.
  • Understands the foundation science, assessments and application science behind human movement.
  • Therefore, I am a truly advanced fitness professional who can work with any client helping them achieve optimal health and fitness goals safely.
  • I have a love for fitness and health as I myself used to be overweight. I was determined to better myself and in 2017 competed in my first IFBB Bikini Fitness Competition and placed Top 5 in my division.
  • My love and passion for the human body and performance reflected when I received CUM LAUDE for postgraduate BSc Honors in Biokinetics.

DIETITIAN

Name: Carla Ferreira

Occupation: Dietitian

Degree: BSc Dietetics (NWU Potchefstroom)

  

Who and what am I:

  • A dietitian is a registered professional who is trained to understand all the aspects regarding nutrition and how it affects the human body. Choosing to see a dietitian means that you choose to obtain your nutritional information from the most reliable source – a smart move!
  • After completion of my B.Sc. Dietetics degree at the North-West University Potchefstroom Campus in 2014, I completed my community service year at Witrand Psychiatric Hospital. Here, I gained invaluable experience with regard to eating disorders, ADHD and the role nutrition plays in mental wellbeing.
  • I moved back to Pretoria and started working as a locum dietitian in a wide variety of settings. This included hospital and ICU nutrition, wellness days and private clientele.
  • As a firm believer in continued education, I completed the CDE Advanced Diabetes course and has also completed DNAlysis training. My main interests include nutrigenomics, diabetes, weight loss and I have a soft place for her paediatric patients. I became a dietitian because her love of food, healthy living and people can all be combined, making it a perfect fit!
