Always try remember that a multivitamin may assist you but these are only meant to supplement your diet in addition to your daily meals. It is never recommended to replace your food with supplementation.
Calcium will always be an obvious first choice. It is immensely important in strengthening the bones and joints no matter what age you are. Very often we do not get enough calcium in our diets so an added calcium supplement is highly recommended. Vitamin D is extremely undervalued but a necessity. Vitamin D aids is essential for bone health and may reduce the risk of cancers and heart disease. Furthermore it promotes calcium absorbtion in the stomach and intestines. We mainly get Vitamin D from sunlight so if you are indoors all day, which most of us are, you may want to look at a Vitamin D supplement. Due to the fact that women experience periods, Iron is always needed. Iron increases the amount of red blood cells in the body and keeps your blood healthy and assists in keeping oxygen levels healthy. Fish oils or Omega 3 are very important for many factors. They decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke, as well assisting in brain health and function, and joint health. If you can not eat fish then you can use flaxseed oils. Lastly, magnesium. Magnesium assists with the symptoms of PMS such as stomach cramps. magnesium assists in hundreds of factors including growth and bone and teeth development. It is also largely needed during pregnancy. It also helps regulates blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
Look closely at your diet, and make sure you are getting plenty of the Big 5 nutrients that your body requires. If you are not then use supplements to aid you where necessary. Once again, it is important for us to always understand what it is that we need and where we are acquiring it from. Stay healthy ladies!
