5 Hidden Calories In Your Meals

So we have nailed down this diet. We are on the right path and we are eating as clean as possible, cutting out simple sugars and processed starch. Yet you are still struggling to get over that plateau and reach your goals. Those last couple of kilograms just won’t drop off. Let’s take a closer look at calories that may be hiding in our meals that we aren’t quite aware of. These may be the problem that we need to solve.
Olive oil has many benefits when dieting, and it boosts your immune system and lowers bad cholesterol. But let us not forget that it is extremely high in calories and splashing it over every meal you have can drive up your daily calories far too much. Limit yourself with the amounts of olive oil you use. The same goes for nuts. Almonds are fantastic in small portions but once again the calories are very dense and too many mixed nuts adds up quickly. A common problem is always fruit juices or smoothies. Many fruit juices have large amounts of added sugar and even though we think we are taking the healthier option, very often the sugar content would scare you to death. It is a wonderful option to have a nice salad for lunch but the salad dressing is a no-no. Salad dressing once again adds calories to a healthy meal making it suddenly very calorie rich. We all turn to yogurts as a healthy option but choose wisely. Low fat or fat free yoghurts are often high in sugar to compensate for the low fat while trying to stay tasty. Low fat doesn always mean they are healthy meals. Start taking a closer look at labels especially the sugars and the fats. We want to keep calories down and many of these foods are cheap calories.
One last suggestion. It’s wonderful to diet all day and train for two hours and then settle down to a healthy meal with your family, and drink 2 glasses of wine. This will get you nowhere. Wine may be a better option but it’s not going to assist you in dropping those kgs. No matter how much we need it ladies, limit yourself. No point in dieting all day and messing it all up at night with cheap calories. We must be vigilant at all times and keep learning. Always keep learning. Learn your foods, learn your calories, and most importantly learn more about your own body. And learn to love and respect it.
